Reaping and Sowing Принт

[Gal 6:7 NLT] Don't be misled--you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.

I am reminded of the story of Jacob and Laban.  Jacob has fled his home from his murderous older brother because Jacob first purchased his birthright with a bowl of stew, and then went on to deceive their father and trick him into giving Jacob the family blessing instead of Esau, the elder.

So Jacob finds himself at his tricky Uncle Laban's farm working to earn the right to marry the younger daughter Rachel.  On the very night of the wedding, Laban switches out Rachel with the older daughter Leah under a veil and after consummating the marriage that evening, Jacob wakes up in the morning next to Leah!  So he ends up working another seven years for Rachel.

What do we harvest?  Well, what did we plant?  Did we plant the seed of deceit by promising a client something we knew we could not deliver?  Then you reap or harvest a crop of distrust with your client and possible law suits.  Did we plant integrity and hard work?  Then look forward to a harvest of trust and reward.

God tells us in His word what to plant.  Try planting the seeds from the fruit of the spirit:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self control.  God promises a bountiful harvest that will glorify Him.

Lord, send God-honoring workers into your fields to plant and to harvest.  The harvest fields of God's kingdom are ripe.  Let's win souls over to Him.
